Start years of teaching at the conservatory:1992

Christos Pouris was born in Athens. She started his piano studies at the age of 5 with her mother Aspasia Fasoula. He studied at the National Conservatory of Athens and Vrilissia receiving a Composition Diploma with Honors, 1st Prize & “M. Kalomoiris” Award, Periklis Koukos class (2013), Piano Diploma with Excellent, Aspasia Fasoula class (1998), and Advanced Theoretical degrees – Fugue (1992), Counterpoint (1990) Michalis Rozakis class, Harmony (1998), Odiki (1987) class B. Patrikidis with Honors. He is also a graduate of Conservation of Antiquities & Art Works of Higher Technological Educational Institution (A.T.E.I.) of Athens. In 1992-93 he studied piano with Marios Papadopoulos and Conducting with Lawrence Leonard at Morley College, London. He studied piano at the London College of Music and Media, earning a Master of Music in Performance in 1999, with his dissertation titled “Authenticity in Chopin”. As a scholar of the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) from 2001 to 2003, he completed his Master of Philosophy at the University of Liverpool. He has attended piano seminars as an active member with K. Ganev, M. Papadopoulos, E. Mouzala, B. Frith, M. Tirimo, V. Ovchinikov, composition with T. Antoniou and G. Zervos and conducting with A. Myrat and E. Acel.

He is actively engaged as a pianist and composer both in Greece and internationally. His works have been performed by soloists and musical ensembles, including the Symphony Orchestra of the Municipality of Athens and the Hellenic Contemporary Music Ensemble, at prestigious venues such as the Athens Concert Hall, the Philosophical Society “Parnassos,” the Athenaeum, the Music Library of Greece, and Beton 7, among others.

Moreover, he has contributed as a lecturer at both international and domestic conferences, and his articles have been published in musicological journals and collective volumes. In 2019, he took on the role of artistic director and organizer for the 1st Classical Music Festival of the Municipality of Corinth.

Since 1992, he has been teaching Composition, Advanced Theory, and Piano at the National Conservatory of Vrilissia. From 2005 to 2012, he taught at the Department of Sound Technology and Musical Instruments at A.T.E.I. of Ionian Islands. Additionally, he has been serving as the Artistic Director at the National Conservatory of Vrilissia since 2007.

He was elected as the Secretary General of the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association of the National Conservatory from 2010 to 2025. He is a founding member of the Hellenic Kodály Society and a member of the “Manolis Kalomiris” Association, the Society for Music Analysis, and the American Musicological Society.

He has been honored with the title of Man of the Year in 2001 by the American Biographical Institute and the Silver Medal from the Municipality of Paliki in Kefalonia in 2009.
