Studying
School year duration: 1 September – 30 June.
Registration Semester 1: September 1 – October 20
B’ semester: November 1 – February 20.
Duration of studying the special courses: ten (10) months from September to June.
Duration of compulsory courses: nine (9) months, beginning early October.
TheSpecial Coursesare individual, while the Compulsory Theoretical Courses they are group.
The classes of Special Courses are four:
Preliminary, Lower, Middle, Higher, lasting at least three (3) years each. Each class has a certain curriculum and only upon its completion can the student be recommended by his teacher for the Promotional Exams. Studying in any special course for a period of time longer than double that provided by law is not allowed. (see Table of minimum study time).
The exams are mandatory for all students from Ministry of Culture.
The examination periods are as follows:
Qualifying exams: October 1-30
Annual exams or Inspections: June
Promotional exams: December – January & June
Supplementary exams: September
Winter graduation exams: January 1-30
Graduation summer exams: June 1-30
Foreign students or those who have interrupted for two (2) consecutive school years and those who come from special courses have the right to be ranked.The classification of students in two-year schools takes place in the first year and in three-year schools it can also be done in the second year, as long as the candidates have the corresponding qualifications. Therefore, candidates based on rankings can study 1st year of Odic, 1st or 2nd year of Harmony, 1st year of Orchestration. In the 3rd year of Harmony, only holders of a degree in Odics have the right to be ranked and vice versa, i.e. in the 2nd year of Odics strong> only holders of a degree in Harmony have the right to rank. The classification in organs is up to B΄ Anotera. Regular students do not have the right to rank.
Student obligations
- A regular student of the Conservatory is only one who regularly attends all the courses defined by the regulations.
- All students must have the textbook issued by the Conservatory and present it to their professors in order to be admitted to the courses.
- In order for former students to register, it is necessary to bring their study booklet and fill out a relevant application.
- If a student loses their passbook, they must request a replacement.
- In May students must hand in their booklet to the Directorate to have their grades entered and signed by the examiners.
- Transfer to the special course from the teacher’s class to another class of the same level is prohibited during the same school year. It is allowed only in exceptional cases and with the consent of the Management of the Conservatory. A final year student who changes either teacher or Conservatory is required to attend a full school year in the new class before appearing for the final exams.
- Students must take part in public performances and concerts of the Conservatory when invited by the Management.
- Students of the Conservatory are prohibited from simultaneously studying at other conservatories or music schools.
- A student who is late from their scheduled class time will be taught the remainder of the class.
- The course missed at the student’s responsibility is not replaced. The lesson that is missed at the teacher’s responsibility is replaced after consultation with the student.
- The holidays of the Conservatory defined by the Ministry of Education and Culture are the same as those of Public Schools. Courses that coincide with public holidays are not substituted.
- The presence of parents or third parties in the classroom during teaching is not allowed, only with the permission of the Management or the responsible teacher.
- Students and parents must read the announcements of the Conservatory and are not entitled to claim ignorance.
- Parents are obliged to ask the teachers about their children’s progress at least once every two months.
Financial obligations
- Thefees are annualand for the convenience of the students they are paid in advance in four installments up to ten installments. In the event of a delay in the payment of the fees, a reminder of the fees is issued by the Directorate. After the deadline given, the student will not be accepted for further study.
- Fees paid are non-refundable and non-refundable.
- In case the student wants to interrupt the courses, he must declare it to the Directorate, otherwise his financial obligations will continue. Interruption of studies in the month of May is not possible.
- Exam fees are paid by students before their exams. To attend the exams they must have paid all their financial obligations.
For any clarification or complaint, please address only the Management of the Conservatory.Compliance with the above will help the progress of the students and the good operation of the Conservatory.
* To obtain a Diploma, at least two (2) years of study are required after obtaining the Degree.
** A high school diploma is required to obtain the Odic Degree and the Byzantine Music Degree.
